I know someone who is trying to commit insurance fraud and I don't know the insurance company who they are trying to sue. It was about a month ago and someone I know wrecked my brothers car, was not hurt.. I am an emt and got the refusal. After this girl spoke with her mother on the phone.. her mother saw $$ and knew a dr who was a family friend. the girl told me, my brother and family several times that she wasn't hurt at all but her mom made her go, saying they would sue later. In the mean time, she has gone to kings island, went rock climbing.. all of which we have pictures. She signed a refusal that day, yet went to the hospital later, after talking with her mom. I cannot stand when people abuse the system and commit fraud, we all end up paying for this in the end. I just need the name of the guys insurance co, would that be on the incident report and can I access it from the city? (more...)

Ridiculous, right? That's what happened to Barbara Antonelli of Staten Island last month. Mrs. Antonelli, 76, was astounded when the receptionist approached her while she was lying on the gurney and reminded her that she hadn't paid her co-pay upon check-in. The doctors in question have apologized and admitted that the receptionist acted inappropriately (and will be reprimanded). But one still has to wonder. After all, she was only doing her job and something in her training made her rush out to collect that money. A simple mistake? Or a sign of a bigger issue within their office? What do you think?
