I found out yesterday that my ob's primary hospital is South Nassau in Oceanside and I live very close to Winthrop University Hospital. I would have liked to go there, simply for convenience and familiarity, but I did some research online and South Nassau seems very nice. I was wondering if anyone has had any personal experiences I could use for reference. Also, if I'm not being too nosy, I would like to know what types of insurance you had & what your out of pocket expenses were for delivering there. I'm currently unemployed and we're trying to figure out what our costs might potentially be, especially since I'm delivering after the holidays. Thanks so much in advance for any info you could provide! Thanks for the advice! Currently I am unemployed but am covered by my husband's United Healthcare insurance. It's a decent policy and I'm not really concerned with the payments. I just wanted a roundabout figure of what someone at that hospital would have paid. We live in NY (Long Island) and recently came home from vacation to find a bad flood, caused by a washing machine hose which broke from wear and tear. There is damage, both upstairs and down. The washing machine is upstairs in the kitchen, and there was water in a few rooms which damaged carpeting and walls - not too horrible. The worst was downstairs where the water caused the ceilings to collapse in two rooms. Needless to say, this will wind up being a large claim. How nervous should we be about being dropped? State Farm is sending a second person to look at the damage, after receiving the estimates from the restoration company and flooring contractor, in order to approve the work. We have only had one other small claim, for a lost wedding band, 10 years ago. We have three other policies, in addition to our home insurance. Thank you for any advice you can give. (more...)

Hey Im 22 and dont have dental insurance. Ive had a bad cavity for about 2 years and off and on gives a really intense pain. At times I go a few days without sleeping because as soon as I fall asleep Im woken up by the pain and have to run it under cold water. Im looking to have an extraction. Its the last tooth on the top right side and has a large hole in it so its not a full tooth. I dont have insurance and dont have the money to get insurance. I was kicked out and have a lot of bills and work as a waiter so I dont have a large income. Where on Long Island NY can I find a place to extract the tooth at a cheap price? Maybe a dental school or something. Any information would help. Oh and when it starts to hurt it usually bleeds(swelling gums into the sharp edge of the tooth) If your just going to say go to an emergency vet and make payment plans please dont post because Im already 3 grand in debt and dont want anymore.
